Overnight Houseboat Tour on Chapora River
Chapora River is North Goa’s charm and happens to be one of Goa’s beautiful rivers. Running west ward into the Arabian Sea, it divides the Talukas of Pernem and Bardez. This river was the clear divide between Portuguese Goa and India in the yesteryears. This beautiful river in the typical village set up is known for its scenic beauty. You’ll only see greenery, coconut trees and natural vegetation along this river. We at Travel Adventures Goa bring to you an overnight experience full of tranquil, peace and bliss. All this will happen on a boat known as a Houseboat which will turn into your home for this period of time.
Let’s get sailing
You will be picked up from your hotel from North Goa and taken to Siolim Jetty, from where you will need to board the Houseboat. This Houseboat has 3 cabins and is a non-air-conditioned boat with an upper deck. We will depart from the jetty at 5:00 pm. As we begin sailing in the beautiful waters of the Chapora River, we will go past the Chapora Fort, commonly known by many Indians as the ‘Dil Chahta Hai Fort’ after a famous movie that was filmed there. This Fort dates back to being built on 1717 and served as a point of defence for many rulers of the past. You will be able to get decent glimpses of the structure as you sail past it.
The belt has a large fishing community and you will see local fishermen in their small boats out into the river doing their daily activities. These sights totally speak of traditional Goan culture. As we move out into the seas, you’ll get a chance to go to the deserted beach in Morjim, which is untouched making this trip even more exclusive for you. You are free to swim in the waters and have some fun, before all eyes turn towards the mesmerising scene of the sunset.
As we sail back onto the backwaters, you’ll catch a twilight scene of the village set up in Goa. Have some fun while you try your luck at fishing before the boat docks for the night. Enjoy your drinks which are all complimentary except wines that need to be purchased, go up to the upper deck and experience the celestial beauties. You’ll soon be served delicious Goan and Indian dinner on-board, making this dining experience truly memorable. With a lot of chatter and fun and happy faces the night will slowly come to an end and you’ll be tucked up in your very comfortable room.
Wake up the next morning amidst nature literally on the waters of Chapora. Misty views, fresh air, bird chirping and silence of nature will be your waking up scene. You will be served your breakfast and also have a chance to try your luck yet again at fishing.
As you begin to sail again, you will have clear morning views of the village, people fishing and farming as they get along with their daily chores. If the tide is low and your luck good, you’ll be able to spot crocodiles. The trip culminates with you being dropped back to the jetty at 1:00 pm after which you will be dropped back to the hotel in a vehicle.
